Aims and History

He whāinga, he hītori

We seek to bring together a community of oral historians across the country, sharing our experiences, best practice, and current thinking about oral history.

The inaugural meeting of NOHANZ was held in October 1986, and more information about both the aims and early history of NOHANZ may be found here

NOHANZ is managed by an executive committee elected by the members in accordance with the Constitution. Annual General Meetings are held once a year, and the NOHANZ executive is elected at the biennial conference for a two-year term.
